Description
In Intarsio II, Loredana Galante constructs a textile universe made of fragments, scraps, and layers that interact in an ever-changing narrative. Out-of-production fabrics and scraps are recovered and sewn together, giving new life to unused waste.
The composition’s rippled blue surface recalls sea waves, surmounted by the silhouettes of birds in flight, some clearly defined, others only hinted at. On the left side, a series of embroidered eyes introduces a more internal, symbolic, and metaphysical element.
The thick, textured weaving of the work recalls the physicality of tapestries and carpets; the practice of embroidery, on the other hand, creates suspended time, far from the frenzy of everyday life, in which the threads become traces, amulets, and small spells woven into the fabric.
