Description
In Intarsia I, Loredana Galante composes a refined textile mosaic using discontinued fabrics and scraps. Like a Picasso-esque collage inspired by papiers collés, the artist juxtaposes and superimposes heterogeneous scraps, creating a visual system rich in references, textures, and stratifications.
The scraps and embroidery combined in the composition create a thick and material visual effect, reminiscent of the textures of a tapestry or carpet. For Loredana Galante, embroidery becomes a means of experiencing a slower pace, of intentionally stopping from the chaos of contemporary life. The gesture recalls the ritual of a prayer which is an art so ancient that its threads contain secrets, spells, amulets, and languages hidden over the centuries.
