I love drawing, it’s not just a profession, but a mother tongue, a way of thinking, and of telling the world’s story

Silvia Bigolin

Illustrator and drawing artist with extensive experience across publishing, animation, theatre, and visual communication, she has built her career around drawing, understood as a tool for research, design, and storytelling.

After studying at the Venice Academy of Fine Arts, she worked in stage design and theatre, collaborating with artisan workshops and opera productions.

Over the years, she expanded her practice into animation, storyboarding, production design, and editorial illustration, developing a versatile, cross-disciplinary approach. She has collaborated with studios such as Pixel Machine Company, Match Music, Animo, and Rainbow, creating storyboards, sets, layouts, textures, illustrations, and backgrounds for animated series.

Since 2003, she has worked as an illustrator for publishing, collaborating with major names in the field, including Battello a Vapore and Geronimo Stilton. Alongside this, she has taken part in communication and outreach projects, creating comics, animations, live painting, and character design.

Among her most recent work is the creation of the character Lea for the Museo del Risorgimento in Brescia, an idea originally conceived by Elisabetta Dami.
She lives and works in Milan. She continues to explore the narrative possibilities of drawing through both personal and professional projects, and is currently working on a graphic novel.

“I draw. I love drawing,” says Silvia, summing up in a few words the passion that drives her work. For her, drawing is not just a craft but a mother tongue — a way of discovering and telling the story of the world. Her versatility doesn’t come from scattering her focus, but from the awareness that every project calls for its own approach, its own sensitivity, a mark that can adapt without losing its authenticity.
