Description
Berdie is part of a series of portraits by Silvia Bigolin, freely inspired by “The Falls”, a book by Peter Greenaway that collects 92 fictional biographies of victims of Unidentified Violent Events, all connected to birds and flight. Life after a U.V.E. is marked by mysterious physical, metabolic, mental, and linguistic mutations. Through the convex surface of the eye, we watch these figures take on new traits. Berdie herself remains frozen at the age she experienced the Event, and loves to hang upside down. Bigolin portrays her exactly like that, in a circular composition built on a five-point perspective that amplifies the sense of motion of the completely inverted child.
