Description
Oriana Labruna, in her Metamorfosi collection of watercolors, interprets and reflects on the figure of Pinocchio as a universal representation of the human soul. The puppet is depicted in a moment of vulnerability: with one arm he covers his face, while with the other he pushes away an invisible weight. He feels a Klesis, an inner push that guides him towards his authentic path.
The fine brushstrokes, revealing the individual hairs of the brush, create lines that radiate from Pinocchio’s body, as if they were tremors or vibrations. This creates a sense of convulsive, existential movement that passes through and animates the normally inert wood of the puppet.
The instability in Pinocchio’s body reflects the fragility of the transformation process of the human being, who goes through a complex and painful journey in search of wisdom.
