Description
Laura GuildA creates a play of weaves that extends inside, around, and beyond the frame, supporting the intricate design made up of green threads: fluid and free in some parts, structured and dense in others, as if the creation of the fabric texture were still in progress.
The work is titled Nausicaa, a reference to the well-known character from the Odyssey. Young, gentle, and beautiful, she falls in love with Odysseus and, although his love is unrequited, begins to pave the way for her own future thanks to their encounter. Even Odysseus, although aware of the impossibility of love, finds comfort in Nausicaa’s warmth, renewing his energy in the search for his way home.
The work’s twists and turns therefore refer to an ongoing evolution in the story of both characters who, thanks to their contact, weave new threads into the fabric of their lives.
Sometimes love can last just a few hours, along the journey from the river mouth to the city. It can be born from nothing more than a dream, or from the desire for a little beauty and affection. And then end there, without needing anything else.
