Description

An iconic face emerges from the chromatic chaos of pop culture. Dan Faco depicts the timeless elegance of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s and explodes it in a visual collision with the frenetic energy of contemporary cartoons and comics.

The black-and-white portrait —constructed with cinematic gray fields—occupies the vertical center. The magnetic eyes, the red lips dripping downward: the face maintains its grace while besieged by pop elements erupting from the sides. Bart Simpson, onomatopoeia (“POW!”), cartoon hearts, skulls, and comic book characters create an explosion of yellow, red, pink, and blue against the central monochrome.

The resin dripping on the upper part adds a material dimension: the layered, glossy, reflective surface creates effects of light and depth that transform the portrait into a three-dimensional experience. The textile inserts add physical tactility. The black background with vertical splashes of color creates an ascending rhythm, while the drippings interact between surface and depth.

Portrait in Collision embodies Dan Faco’s poetics: the classic cinematic icon immersed in the chaotic universe of pop culture without losing her dignity. Past and present, high culture and pop, black, white, and multicolor all coexist in a collision that generates pure energy.
