Description
The work consists of four x-rays of different people, superimposed and fixed in transparent resin with colored filters and plexiglass. Through the interaction of light, material, and transparency, Avvassena brings to light an ancestral visual language: an imaginary script, as ancient as collective memory, that transcends contemporary linguistic and cultural barriers.
The title evokes the time before the Tower of Babel, when humanity spoke a single universal language. In this pre-Babel space, the bodies and souls of individuals conversed in perfect harmony, without division or misunderstanding. The superimposed X-rays become characters in a lost alphabet, corporeal signs that testify to the profound interconnection between human beings beyond superficial differences.
The use of human X-rays—a recurring element in Avvassena’s artistic practice—reveals what normally remains invisible: bone structure, internal anatomy, the shared vulnerability of every body. Superimposed and transfigured by resin and colored filters, these medical images become a testament to the profound unity that binds humanity.
