Description
In The Solitude of Angels, Angela Bello explores the atmosphere of the interior of a moving bus, an anonymous space based on transit, seemingly devoid of its own meaning. This non-place becomes fertile ground for investigating the multidimensionality of the human being and the intimate space of solitude that permeates daily transit.
The work is constructed exclusively through the dynamics of light, completely ignoring the shadow areas in a choice that finds its complement in a twin painting, The Solitude of Demons: the same scene is represented again, but this time the subjects are investigated in their shadows, creating a dialogue between revelation and concealment, between what emerges into the light and what is hidden in the darkness.
The creative process unfolds as a methodical survey: the artist treats the scene like a site visit to be documented, a house to be surveyed, similar to the survey of a building to be renovated. The lights meticulously outline the figures against a background prepared with extreme realism, which is distorted through the manipulation of the light.
