Description
The painting draws inspiration from “The Fiery Angel” (Prokofiev, 1919–1926, libretto based on the novel by V. Yakovlevich Bryusov and written by the composer himself). In this vision, Renata, condemned to the stake by the inquisitor, transfigures her femininity to a state of physical and spiritual purity that mocks the Devil’s deceptions. After being manipulated from childhood by mendacious projections of the masculine, she was guided by her desire for unconditional and pure love through a series of encounters that captured, from her complexity, only the aspect of physical attractiveness. From this perspective, the transfiguration of the body, like that of the mind, towards a transcendental tension, serves the rediscovery of a purity that no longer admits, in its aesthetic splendor, any kind of lasciviousness or malice.
