“Every moment worth living is worth painting.”
Biography, Projects, and Other works
Sarah Hitt
Sarah Hitt was born in 2000 in the United States. She grew up with an innate curiosity for making—drawing, building, experimenting—and art entered her life so early that she herself struggles to remember a time without it. She lives and works in Raleigh, where she balances a career as a mechanical engineer with a continuous and passionate artistic practice.
A Dual Identity, One Vision
In 2025, Sarah earned her degree in Mechanical Engineering and now works for an engineering company in Raleigh. The same analytical precision that guides her technical work—attention to detail, the ability to observe and solve—can be found in her artworks, where the care of the line and fidelity to the subject reveal a gaze that is both scientific and sensitive. For Sarah, engineering and art are not opposing worlds; they are two different ways of understanding reality.
Artistic Path
Her journey as an independent artist began in 2020, when, as a first-year university student, she launched her online shop, giving concrete form to what had until then remained a private passion. That same year, during lockdown, she chose to use the unexpected time of quarantine to experiment with new painting techniques and refine her visual language. It marked a turning point: from a broad curiosity emerged a more conscious and focused practice.
Over the years, Sarah has explored a wide range of techniques: silk painting, oil, soft pastel, watercolor, acrylic, colored pencils, fluid art, charcoal, and ceramics. Today, her work is primarily centered on watercolor and acrylic, drawn to their versatility and expressive potential.
Style: Personal Realism
Her current style is rooted in realism, often starting from photographs she has taken herself. This approach allows her to maintain a direct and personal connection with her subjects—not a detached reproduction of an image, but the rendering of a lived moment, an emotion first captured through the lens and then rediscovered through color.
The subjects that inspire her most are animals—dogs in particular—as well as landscapes and moments from her travels, which become visual traces of meaningful experiences in her work.
Beyond painting, Sarah plays the piano and practices soccer—two activities that, like art and engineering, require discipline, training, and the ability to find rhythm in what one does.
