Laura
GuildA
For me, being an artist has always been a way to communicate and express my thoughts and opinions. I like to think I can awaken awareness in those who observe my work, and I would be happy if I could also inspire the sense of responsibility needed to push people to take action.
Biography, Projects, and Available Works
Laura GuildA
Laura GuildA creates multi-material works, manipulating threads, fabrics, and fibers in a language that reflects and critiques the fashion industry, mass production, environmental pollution, and consumerism. Born and raised in Germany, the artist traveled throughout Europe during her formative years before settling in Milan, where she studied Fashion and Textile Design at NABA and then Visual Arts and Decoration at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts.
Her training was further enriched by a practical study of weaving, tapestries, textile dyes, and prints, which inspired her personal style, characterized by a strong materiality thanks to the use of embroidery, macramé, knitting, and the felting of fibers, yarns, and fabrics.
Furthermore, the artist creates installations using glass, mirrors, and video, as well as assemblage and ready-made techniques. Her works find space in a social context yet are also accompanied by profound personal reflection: this is why, when one stands before one of her works, the overall view is accompanied by a meticulous attention to detail, creating nuances of meaning within each individual interweaving.
Since 2020, she has begun to exhibit her works in both solo and group exhibitions, such as Fil Rouge at SDC Textile & Art Studio in Perugia in 2020 and superans at Studio Zecchillo – formerly Studio Piero Manzoni in 2024.
