CALL FOR ARTISTS: “ON THE ROAD”
Bring your art to the next stops of the Art4Women RoadShow

Art4Women is launching a new call exclusively for artists within its community, inviting creative proposals to be featured in the upcoming stops of the RoadShow, the travelling exhibition project that will continue across cities and territories throughout Italy until 2027.

The call aims to further involve the Art4Women community in the project and to build, stop by stop, a programme that responds to the places and communities encountered along the RoadShow journey. Artworks for exhibition, performances and workshops may be selected by Art4Women according to the characteristics of each venue, its themes, partners and audiences.

The Project: Art4Women RoadShow

The RoadShow is Art4Women’s travelling project created to bring contemporary art beyond traditional art spaces and closer to local communities. Travelling across Italy aboard an electric cargo van transformed into a moving artistic statement, Art4Women creates opportunities for exchange between artists, territories, institutions, businesses and cultural organisations.

Public squares, towns and villages, museums, cultural venues and unconventional spaces become temporary settings for exhibitions, performances, workshops and participatory activities. Every stop is different: each programme is developed in dialogue with the host territory and its specific cultural and social context.

With On the Road, we want our community to play an even greater role in shaping this journey.

What We’re Looking For:

The call is open to proposals across three main categories:

ARTWORKS FOR EXHIBITION

Contemporary artworks suitable for inclusion in temporary exhibitions organised as part of the different RoadShow stops.

PERFORMANCES

Artistic performances and live interventions capable of activating a space and creating a direct relationship with audiences and the surrounding territory.

WORKSHOPS

Participatory artistic workshops and activities for children, adults, families or specific audiences, designed to encourage engagement, experimentation and exchange.

Proposals across different artistic languages and disciplines are welcome. Art4Women will evaluate each submission and identify potential opportunities within the RoadShow stops that best align with the artist’s practice and proposal.

Open Call

Applications may be submitted throughout 2027.

As this is an ongoing call, we encourage artists to apply as early as possible. Proposals will be reviewed on a rolling basis according to the RoadShow programme and the specific characteristics of each stop.

Artists selected for a specific opportunity will be contacted directly by Art4Women to define participation arrangements, timing, logistics and the details of the proposed project.

How to Participate
  • The call is exclusively open to artists who are members of the Art4Women Community.
  • Applying to the call is free of charge.
There is no predetermined number of artists to be selected.
  • Applications will become part of a pool of proposals that Art4Women may progressively consider in relation to the RoadShow programme through 2027.
  • Submitting an application does not automatically guarantee participation in a RoadShow stop.
What We Offer

Selected artists will have the opportunity to take part in one or more stops of the Art4Women RoadShow, connecting with new territories, audiences and local organisations.

Selected activities may be featured in the communication surrounding each RoadShow stop through Art4Women’s digital and social media channels, communications and press office activities, according to the communication strategy developed for each event.

Specific participation conditions — including any production, transportation, installation or other financial and organisational requirements — will be agreed with selected artists according to the individual RoadShow stop and the nature of the proposed project.

Selection Process

We are not looking for a single winning project.

On the Road is an open and dynamic call, designed to evolve alongside the RoadShow and enable Art4Women to identify, within its community, the proposals best suited to each context.

Selection will take into account the quality and feasibility of the proposal, its relationship with the location and audience of each stop, and its alignment with the objectives of the RoadShow.

A proposal that is not selected for a particular stop may still be considered for future opportunities.
