Monica Seksich
Monica Seksich is a multidisciplinary artist: painter, performer, poet, actress, curator, and creator of projects that explore contemporary media. Her work combines painting, steampunk atmospheres, music, performance, and poetry in imagery that blends gold and technology, Victorian aesthetics, and experimentation.
Born in Turin in 1960, she graduated from the Primo Liceo Artistico in 1978, continuing her education with various courses dedicated to painting techniques, including fresco painting at the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo. Since the 1980s, she has passionately followed the international punk and post-punk scene, an interest that has fueled her artistic vision.
Between 1993 and 2000, she launched two musical projects, HEAT (electrowave) and XCR (electro-industrial), with which she performed numerous concerts throughout Europe, creating both the musical and visual components. She also works on various art projects, collaborating with artists such as Giulia Caira, Angelo Comino, Angel G. Villani, and Elilim.
In 2003, she founded the collective Città Materna, which she exhibited until 2009. Since 2010, together with Alessandro Passerini, she created the collective TM15, through which she develops exhibitions, events, and curatorial projects for institutions and cultural entities, including: Civic Museum of Contemporary Art of Ortona, Palazzo Farnese, Galleria del Carbone of Ferrara, Stauros Museum of Teramo, Michetti Museum, Municipality of Camerata Picena, University of Palermo (Rivista Bacchanale), Terry May Home Gallery, Tarot Museum of Bologna, Galleria Bottisio, and ATB Gallery (Turin), Mostra.Mi Art (Milan).
