Art is a dialogue between the soul and playfulness, in which innocence, emotion, and imagination blend together.
Lilian Caceros
Born in Guatemala and then settled in Los Angeles, Lilian Caceros is a self-taught artist who has transformed drawing into a space of freedom and inner truth, in a dialogue between playfulness and soul.
Although drawing was not a major focus of her youth, Lilian was always surrounded by the creativity of a family of tailors. Later, the artist approached drawing as a liberating art, influenced by the diversity of the Los Angeles fashion industry, her studies in Jungian psychology, and her family’s work.
The subjects portrayed are almost always women, reminiscent of the dolls the artist loved as a child. They arise from unplanned intuitions, from a stream of consciousness that lets the soul speak through art. This creative dimension leaves room for play, the joy of experimentation, and feelings unfiltered by reason.
Her inclusive language is supported by the vitality of Los Angeles: nature, animals and children often appear in her works as symbols of purity and innocence.
In her works, Lilian Caceros generates a dialogue between herself and the world, to remind us that tenderness, joy, and imagination are still existing art forms.
