For me, abstraction isn’t the absence of form, but the essence of form. It’s the space where raw material is freed from narrative and becomes pure emotion.
Biography, Projects, and Available Works
Giuseppe Scaffidi
Giuseppe Scaffidi Domianello, known as Spartacus, is a self-taught artist whose research is rooted in material and abstract painting. His visual language, free from academic constraints, investigates the primordial force of matter to transform it into pure emotional experience.
At the heart of his work is continuous experimentation: plaster, sand, hemp, pure pigments, cement, and recycled materials are layered on the canvas, creating sculptural landscapes that transcend two-dimensionality. His works invite a total sensorial experience, where the surface becomes body and vision becomes touch.
His path, conducted outside of traditional art institutions, stems from a personal urge to explore the living relationship between artist, material, and gesture. This independent process allows him to maintain a direct, raw, and authentic style, where each work becomes the immediate expression of an internal dialogue.
