Description
Marco Ugoni applies his signature visual language of dynamic lines, graphic rhythms, and perceptual distortions in his Jimi Hendrix Playing the Bass. Against a deep orange background, dense black lines radiate from the instrument and Hendrix’s body, spreading across the canvas like expanding sound waves.
These visual filaments don’t just outline the musician’s figure: they envelop it, deform it, expand it, transforming the image into a vibration where only the subject’s hands, bass, and face are clearly distinguishable. The effect is that of an optical illusion that captures the eye and guides it along a narrative path, as if the music released from the bass were taking shape and becoming a graphic sign.
Through this controlled distortion of reality, Ugoni restores the pulsating sound, energy, and expressive freedom of music. His work thus becomes a visual interpretation of sound: an explosion of movement that draws the viewer into the intensity of the moment.
