Loredana Galante, Intarsio III

Composition by Loredana Galante, made with scrap fabric, acrylic, and embroidery, measuring 80×100 cm.

Intarsio III is a textile collage of scraps, fabrics, and embroidery that reminds us of the importance of stopping to appreciate the little things.

Description

Intarsio III is a work created from scrap fabrics and offcuts, embroidered in a large weave that, in its materiality, recalls a carpet or tapestry. The main tones are soft beige and dark blue, alternating in horizontal bands that layer the composition.

At first glance, precise shapes cannot be recognized, but moving away from the work, objects reminiscent of a teapot and a bottle can be distinguished: everyday objects that focus attention on what is ordinarily kind or sweetly ordinary. These fragments of everyday life contain memories and suggestions.

Loredana Galante‘s aim with this composition is to stop time: both through the slow gesture of sewing and embroidery in the production phase, and for the observer, who must get closer to appreciate all the details of the work, pausing in front of every fragment and stitch.
