Loredana Galante‘s work features subjects complicit in spells and rituals designed to restore order to chaos, or chaos to order, inviting the observer to continually change their point of view.
The canvas depicts, through geometric lines reminiscent of window frames, a lavishly laid table: embroidered chairs, an elegant tablecloth, carefully arranged crystal and bowls. What is striking is the absence of a human figure, yet the presence of two birds perched on the table. They are not stuffed Thanksgiving turkeys, but live, alert birds, peering out at the viewer, almost as if they were participating in the spell cast upon the scene. The setting is surreal, bathed in bright blue, as if the banquet were suspended in the open sky.
Around the table float colorful beans and a small birdhouse, free to follow no physical rules. However, this freedom seems contradicted by the window frames, which delimit the space and force the birds to remain on the table, preventing them from truly taking flight.
