In the example of the customized Squid Game sneaker, Aura Nuccio transports the universe of the viral TV series into a wearable, entirely hand-painted work.
The color choices and geometric patterns recall the colors and shapes of the show: the green of the players’ tracksuits and the red of the guards fill the spaces between the shoe’s seams. Dominating the composition, however, are irregular splashes of red paint, representing the blood that characterizes the dangerous nature of the competition in the story.
The narrative dimension is further enriched by the representation of a guard and the series logo, details visible only to a careful eye, which enhance the aesthetic complexity of the shoe.
