Unique work by Angela Bello made in oil on canvas, measuring 100x80cm.

The Hand of God is a reflection on the solitude of a non-place, made of reflections, transparencies, and presences that leave an invisible trace of life.

Description

In The Hand of God, Angela Bello explores the sensations evoked by the interior of a moving bus, an anonymous space, based on transit, seemingly devoid of any meaning of its own. This non-place becomes fertile ground for the artist, who investigates the multidimensionality of the human being and the intimate space of solitude experienced in daily transit.

The work is constructed through an interplay of reflections, transparencies, and visual stratifications that allow different realities to coexist on a single pictorial surface: the lines that delineate the bus, reflections and evanescent details appear and disappear, such as hands, the reflection of a man (who is not on the bus, seemingly living only through the glass), a landscape, and lights. This visual dialogue generates heterotopic spaces of revelation, where the boundary between presence and absence dissolves in a superposition of planes that coexist simultaneously.

Angela Bello‘s creative process is articulated in a work of meticulous realism, which is completed through a corrosive process: the application of a thinner on fresh paint, a controlled construction deconstructed by the freedom of the gesture.
